What makes an Italian beef sandwich?
An Italian beef sandwich is a masterpiece of tender, juicy, slow-roasted beef that’s marinated in an aromatic blend of herbs and spices. It’s then piled high between slices of soft Italian bread and topped with sweet bell peppers. The combination of flavors creates the perfect harmony to tantalize your taste buds and leave you wanting more.
Where did Italian beef sandwiches come from?
The origins of the Italian beef sandwich are shrouded in mystery, but it first appeared on menus in Chicago during the early 1900s. During that time, Italian immigrants were slow-roasting tough cuts of meat to make them more tender. They would then pile thin slices of the meat onto Italian bread, and the sandwich quickly became a hit at weddings and big family gatherings.
